Jared Boll

the Blue Jackets will begin the busy home stretch of the preseason without their most-familiar face. Right wing Jared Boll, the club’s longest-tenured player and grinder-in-chief, did not practice yesterday and could miss the final three exhibition games because of an upper-body injury. His recovery could stretch into the regular season, which begins on Oct. 4 against visiting Calgary. “He’s going to be sidelined for a bit,” coach Todd Richards said. “I don’t know exactly (how long) — it could be a few days, it could be a week or two weeks. Something like that.” Richards declined to elaborate on the nature of the injury. Boll played a little less than nine minutes in the 5-3 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. He was credited with three blocked shots.
