Goaltender Steve Mason

The Columbus Blue Jackets plan to monitor goaltender Steve Mason (mononucleosis) on a day-to-day basis.
Mason apparently didn't notify the coaching and training staff of his symptoms for more than a month. He ended up starting 20 consecutive games before the streak ended last Friday.
It's hard to imagine the Blue Jackets will earn their first playoff spot in franchise history if their rookie sensation doesn't make a quick and full recovery.
